The Fedcap Group’s 2019 Celebration of The Power of Possible Gala

The Fedcap Group’s  2019 Celebration of The Power of Possible Gala took place on Monday, December 2nd. What an extraordinary evening!

Even with nasty weather, over 430 brave souls joined us to meet up with friends and colleagues in celebration of our mission and shared purpose.  A festive spirit permeated the grand hall at Cipriani 42nd Street, adorned with banners recognizing the individuals we serve.

During the evening, we announced our Five Bold Goals to Make a Lasting Impact:

      1. Every person living in foster care has the resources to go to college and graduate
      2. Individuals who leave prison/jail get a job, rejoin their communities and do not reoffend
      3. Adults with an intellectual disability who want a job are employed at a competitive wage
      4. People on public assistance obtain jobs and reduce dependency on government assistance
      5. Children ages 0-6 are prepared and inspired to complete their education, obtain employment and live full lives

We really believe that we can accomplish these goals.  We are so grateful to the sponsors of these goals, who share our belief in the Power of Possible: Huron, USI, Mutual of America, S. Katzman Produce, and Herb Sturz. And the goals came alive through the stories of Stacey DeCosta, Allen Turner, Yannette Vega, Quay Saintil, and Jose, Patricia and Ethan Rogel. They inspired all of us.

Our esteemed colleague Mike Brenner was presented with the Leo Mayer Award for Distinguished Service, named for our founding Board Chair and President. The award is given to individuals who reflect the spirit of Leo Mayer, who lived a life committed to helping people in need reach their potential and achieve their dreams. There could be no more worthy recipient than Mike, who served as Fedcap Board Chair from 2003-2008 and continues to change the lives of young people through mentorship.

Over the years we have seen so many lives transformed—so many people facing hopelessness who have found long-term social and economic well-being for themselves and their families. The Celebration of the Power of Possible Gala celebrates these changed lives and points the way forward to the work ahead. With the guidance and vision of the Boards of The Fedcap Group, and the dedication of each and every one of our supporters, I know that we will continue to make an impact, one life at a time.
