New York, NY —Today, Fedcap announced the acquisition of Healthcare Ready, a nationally recognized and trusted non-profit dedicated to strengthening the resilience of the U.S. healthcare system before, during, and after disasters. The acquisition significantly expands Fedcap’s Health Practice, strengthening its capabilities in emergency preparedness, healthcare supply chain resilience, and public-private coordination.

Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina nearly two decades ago, Healthcare Ready has served as a critical bridge between government, healthcare providers, and the private sector. In more than 200 disaster responses across all 50 states and U.S. territories, Healthcare Ready has safeguarded vulnerable populations and strengthened emergency preparedness systems by ensuring that people maintain access to essential medications, services, and care during crises.

Through this acquisition, Fedcap will integrate Healthcare Ready’s expertise into its growing Health Practice and align its operational capabilities with the research, policy, and systems-change work of the Fedcap Community Impact Policy Institute. Together, these efforts will advance a comprehensive approach to health resilience—combining frontline response capacity with policy innovation, education and workforce development, and long-term system design.

“This acquisition represents a major step forward in building a modern, integrated health practice that meets the realities of today’s risks—from pandemics to weather-related disasters,” said Christine McMahon, President and CEO of Fedcap. “Healthcare Ready has built a nationally respected model rooted in public-private partnership, up to date responses, and supply chain coordination. By bringing this expertise into Fedcap, and aligning it with the Community Impact Policy Institute, we are strengthening our ability to design and scale solutions that ensure communities—especially the most vulnerable—are protected and supported in times of crisis.”

Healthcare Ready’s core capabilities include coordinating emergency response across sectors, restoring healthcare supply chains, providing up to date data and mapping tools such as RxOpen, and delivering training and risk assessments to improve preparedness. These functions will now be embedded within Fedcap’s broader ecosystem, which spans education, workforce development, health, and economic development program and initiatives across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.

“Healthcare Ready has always been focused on one core goal—ensuring that people can access the care and resources they need when disaster strikes,” said Julie Abrams, Executive Director of Healthcare Ready. “Joining Fedcap ensures that this mission not only continues, but grows. Fedcap’s scale, infrastructure, and commitment to innovation provide a powerful platform to expand this work and integrate it into broader efforts to strengthen communities and improve health outcomes.”

With Healthcare Ready, Fedcap will position health resilience as a core driver of economic mobility and well-being and reinforcing Fedcap’s commitment to tackling complex social challenges through integrated, cross-sector solutions. In partnership with government and cross-sector stakeholders, Fedcap will help design and scale evidence-based emergency planning frameworks that are both practical and durable, ensuring that health systems are not only responsive in moments of crisis, but sustainable by design.
