Runway of Dreams Takes Center Stage at New York Fashion Week, Showcasing Adaptive Design from Leading Global Brands

New York, NY — Runway of Dreams, an organization of Fedcap, hosted its annual New York Fashion Week runway show on September 14, 2026, at Center415. The show featured adaptive and universal design from leading brands – adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, French Toast Adaptive, BetterMe, G-III Adaptive, and Victoria's Secret – with many featured products certified with the GAMUT Seal of Approval™, the industry certification for accessible design developed in partnership with the disability community. Looks were modeled by a diverse cast, including members of Runway of Dreams' 1,000+ talent community, before hundreds of attendees and industry partners.
The show's reach was made possible by sponsors including PVH Corp. and Tommy Hilfiger, adidas, Macy's, Victoria's Secret, BetterMe, French Toast Adaptive, G-III Adaptive, HSBC, Manhattan Strategies, Billy Footwear, Crocs, J.Crew, Easterseals National, Imprint Marketing, Centric, and Agron.
The evening opened with welcome remarks from Mindy Scheier, Founder of Runway of Dreams, and was hosted by actress, singer, and disability rights advocate Jenna Bainbridge – the first wheelchair user to play Nessarose in Broadway's hit musical Wicked. A message from Governor Kathy Hochul was delivered by Kimberly H. Ridley, Chief Disability Officer of New York State, and introduced by Christine McMahon, President and CEO of Fedcap.
"Runway of Dreams and this community showed the industry exactly what inclusive design and inclusive storytelling look like when they're done right," said Jenna Bainbridge. "It was an honor to take part in this movement."
The evening featured two Next Gen collections – French Toast x FIT and Macy's x FIT – showcasing the next generation of adaptive designers coming through Runway of Dreams' educational pipeline.
Two awards were presented during the evening. Vanessa Abrahams-John, Senior Vice President, HR NAM + Global DEI, adidas North America, accepted the Pioneer of Change Award on behalf of adidas, presented by Leslie Nixon, Vice President of Community and Belonging, Victoria's Secret & Co. The award recognized adidas' longstanding commitment to advancing accessibility for the disability community.
That commitment includes the development of the GAMUT-certified Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive – a performance running shoe created in collaboration with Runway of Dreams to make running more inclusive for people with disabilities and the winner of the Grand Prix in Innovation at the 2026 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
Marissa Bode, breakout star of the Wicked film franchise and a leading voice for disability representation in entertainment, received the ICON Award, presented by Dave Stevens, disability advocate, broadcaster, and Runway of Dreams Board Member.
The New York Fashion Week show marked the finale of the 2026 National Runway Series, through which Runway of Dreams expanded its network of educational programs, consulting practices, and advocacy work across the country.
"Closing out the 2026 National Runway Series on the New York Fashion Week stage, in front of a global audience, is a milestone for this movement and for Fedcap," said Christine McMahon, President and CEO of Fedcap. "Every brand, sponsor, and model who took part tonight helped prove that adaptive fashion belongs on the industry's biggest stages."
