Runway of Dreams to Honor adidas with 2026 Pioneer of Change Award at New York Fashion Week

New York, NY – Runway of Dreams, an organization of Fedcap, today announced that adidas will receive the 2026 Pioneer of Change Award for its commitment to adaptive design and the impact of its Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive, adidas’ first performance running shoe designed for people with disabilities. adidas will be honored at Runway of Dreams’ Fashion Revolution runway show during New York Fashion Week on September 14, 2026, at Center415 in New York City.
The Pioneer of Change Award honors companies that lead with vision and purpose, redefining accessibility and innovation across their industries. adidas joins a distinguished list of past honorees, including Tommy Hilfiger Americas, PVH Corporation, Sephora, Zappos.com, and Victoria’s Secret. adidas’ recognition reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to adaptive design and removing barriers for athletes, consumer and employees alike. In partnership with Runway of Dreams and GAMUT, adidas developed the Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive with and for a diverse range of adaptive athletes and people with disabilities, ultimately earning the GAMUT Seal of Approval.
“adidas represents exactly what the Pioneer of Change Award was created to celebrate,” said Christine McMahon, President and CEO of Fedcap, parent organization of Runway of Dreams. “From the Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive to its broader commitment to inclusion, adidas has shown the influence a global brand can have when it treats adaptive performance as core to product design. We are proud to honor that leadership on one of fashion's biggest stages.”
“At adidas, we believe sport has the power to change lives and we’re honored to be recognized for the ways the Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive is already having that impact,” said Patrick Nava, Global GM at adidas Running. “The award shows what's possible when we put all athletes at the center of everything we do and design with inclusion from the very beginning.”
“We’ve seen firsthand adidas’ commitment to involving the adaptive community to find solutions that address real needs,” said Mindy Scheier, Founder of Runway of Dreams and GAMUT Management. “Honoring adidas with the Pioneer of Change Award is a celebration of that work, and a signal to the rest of the industry about what authentic commitment to the disability community looks like.”
Runway of Dreams’ 2026 NYFW runway show is part of the 2026 National Runway Series to showcase adaptive and universal design on one of the industry's most prominent stages. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at events.runwayofdreams.org.
