Herzogenaurach, Germany & New York, NY — Runway of Dreams, an organization of Fedcap, today announced that the Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive, the newest performance running shoe from adidas, has received the GAMUT Seal of Approval™, certifying excellence in disability representation and accessibility. The Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive is adidas' first performance running shoe designed for people with disabilities, developed in partnership with GAMUT Management after adhering to a stringent set of requirements established by experts in the disability space.

Inspired by adidas-sponsored athlete Chris Nikic, the first person with Down Syndrome to complete an Ironman triathlon, adidas worked alongside Chris, other athletes with disabilities, and caregivers to understand their needs and translate them into meaningful design solutions.

Through focus groups and product testing led by GAMUT Management, participants including individuals with Down syndrome, wheelchair users, people living with chronic illness, those with mobility and fine motor challenges, and individuals with upper and lower limb differences contributed critical insights to the design process. Two Paralympians also brought elite performance perspectives to the evaluation process. The result is a reimagined sneaker designed to make running more accessible without compromising performance.

“Our work across Fedcap is grounded in the belief that economic and social mobility begins with access,” said Christine McMahon, President and CEO of Fedcap, parent organization of Runway of Dreams. “The Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive represents more than an innovation in footwear—it signals a fundamental shift in how the sporting goods industry approaches disability. The GAMUT Seal of Approval affirms that this product meets a high standard shaped by lived experience and real-world functionality. When people with disabilities are engaged from the earliest stages of design, the result is both a better product and a more equitable marketplace.”

"With Supernova Rise 3 Adaptive, our role at adidas is to remove barriers that people with disabilities face and to make running more accessible," said Patrick Nava, GM of adidas Running. "We heard directly from athletes with disabilities that something as simple as getting into their running shoes can shape their entire experience – from confidence and comfort, to whether they feel able to take part at all. Their voices helped us identify the everyday frictions and find solutions that address real needs. By involving the community at every step, from product design through to testing, and partnering with advocates who connect us with a diverse range of runners, we're ensuring adaptive performance isn't treated as an afterthought, but as part of how we design – because we believe that through sports, we have the power to change lives."
